Java with Juli podcast
If you were standing in front of a crowd of 300 to speak, how carefully would you craft your words? Okay, so you’re actually at home alone with your smartphone, but on social media, you may as well be in front of a stadium full of people! Today Juli and her guest, Daniel Darling, talk about using online conversations to do good, learning to “see” the person (loved by God) behind every post, and discerning when to post and when not to.
Guest: DAniel Darling
This past spring, I spent 30 nights alone in the hospital without my loving husband by my side. One night, as I laid in my hospital bed, I thought back on the decision I made to marry him. Little did I know how my decision three years ago would impact me today as I walked through this season of physical suffering. Over the past three years, my body has experienced vaginismus (a condition involving involuntary muscle spasms in the pelvic floor muscles that can make sexual intercourse painful, difficult, or impossible), miscarrying our eight-week-old baby, frequent sinus headaches, and, most recently, achalasia: A rare disease that causes my esophagus to not function properly. My health struggles left me asking many theological questions, but I’ve learned 3 things about how to suffer well through sickness.

Many Christians believe that their sexual choices and beliefs are a separate category from their spiritual pursuits. We simply assume that God doesn’t speak into our sexuality – that He allows us to make those choices for ourselves.
This is a destructive lie. In fact, sexuality and spirituality were designed to be inseparable. Our sexual beliefs and behaviors are a reflection of what we truly believe about God. Every sexual question is ultimately a spiritual question.
Engaging in sexual conversations is a necessary part of the Great Commission (making disciples). People need help understanding their sexuality within the context of God’s character and biblical teaching.
